Rabies: given at the age your state law sets. This is one example that fits the guideline spacing (doses 2 to 4 weeks apart). Your vet sets the real dates, especially if a dose has already been given.

What the guidelines say

The 2020 AAHA/AAFP Feline Vaccination Guidelines treat panleukopenia, herpesvirus and calicivirus (the FVRCP combination) as core, with rabies given as your state requires. FeLV is core for every kitten up to and including one year old.

  • FVRCP: every 2 to 4 weeks until at least 16 weeks old, then a booster at 6 months.
  • FeLV: two doses 3 to 4 weeks apart, starting from 8 weeks, as the Cat Fanciers' Association summarizes the guidelines.
  • Rabies: at the age your state law sets.

The example has visits at 8, 12 and 16 weeks and about 6 months. A kitten adopted with some shots already done will follow a different plan.
